Careers and Salaries

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of economists is projected to grow 6 percent from 2021 to 2031, about as fast as the average for all occupations. They predict approximately 1,400 job openings for economists each year, on average, over the next decade. While many organizations require economists to hold a master’s degree, some government agencies hire economists with a bachelor’s degree.

Many PennWest graduates pursue advanced degrees while others quickly find employment in private corporations, non-profit organizations, financial institutions and government agencies. Our alumni have built successful careers as economists, financial analysts, credit analysts, policy analysts, bank officers, loan officers, market research analysts and economic consultants.
