There is no minimum number of credits necessary before you are eligible to transfer to PennWest. Adhering to the PA Board of Governors (BOG) Student Transfer Policy, all college-level credits with a passing grade from post-secondary institutions with CHEA-recognized accreditation will be accepted in transfer. There is no maximum number of credits that will be admitted—however, the Residency requirement dictates that you must complete 30 of the last 60 semester hours in courses scheduled by the University for a bachelor's or associate degree. In addition, 50% of the major course requirements must be from a PA State System university.

At PennWest, we know how important it is to receive a fair and timely assessment of your credits so you can transfer as many as possible.
Whether you are transferring military credits, Prior Learning Assessment (PLA), Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), College-Level Education Program (CLEP), or credits earned from another college or university, PennWest is dedicated to making the process simple. Upon admission, a transfer credit evaluation will be provided upon request. Once you have submitted your advanced tuition deposit, a full degree audit will take place. You will then be able to review your degree audit and request any appeals. Learn more about our transfer credit processes and policies below.
To turn your associate degree into a bachelor's degree, take advantage of Pennsylvania's statewide Program-to-Program (P2P) Agreements. They allow students who graduate with specified associate degrees to transfer as juniors into bachelor degrees in similar fields of study at PennWest. More information on Program-to-Program agreements can be found at www.patrac.org.
