Thanksgiving Break Information / Closing Notice Fall 2025
All residence halls close at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, November 25, 2025. All residents must vacate the building at this time unless they receive prior written
permission to remain from the Residence Life and Housing Office.
The residence halls will open at 2:00 PM on Sunday, November 30, 2025.
Dining will reopen for Dinner on Sunday, November 30, 2025
Thanksgiving Break Housing / Break Application
You must complete the break application if you meet any of the following criteria:
- You are required to stay on campus for university-related reasons
- You are unable to vacate by 6:00 PM
- You cannot vacate at all
- You need to return to campus before November 30 at 2:00 PM
The break application will be available on your Housing and Dining Portal under “Contracts/Request
Forms” from November 7 until November 20. Please note that a nightly fee of $50 may
apply, and no one will be permitted to stay without prior written approval from Residence
Life and Housing.
Before Leaving For Thanksgiving Break
Please prepare your room as outlined below before leaving campus:
Failure to comply with these instructions will result in documentation. You and/or your roommate(s) will be considered in violation of the University conduct
code if any residence hall/university policy violations are found in your room.
- Close and lock your windows
- Leave your drapes/window coverings open, unless you live on the first floor.
- Gather and empty all trash
- Turn your HEAT to 65 degrees on the heat setting (if applicable).
- Unplug all electrical cords, except your refrigerator and fish tank (make sure that
a self-feeder is installed if leaving fish)
- Turn off lights
- Lock room door (and bedroom door if in a suite)
NOTE: The University assumes no responsibility for personal belongings left in student rooms
during break periods. You may want to consider taking your more valuable items home with you over the break.
Winter Break Information / Closing Notice Fall 2025
All residence halls close at 6:00 PM on Friday, December 12, 2025. All residents must vacate the building at this time unless they receive prior permission
to remain from the Residence Life and Housing Office.
Students do not have to take their items home if they are returning for the spring.
Students must be registered for the Spring 2026 semester to live in campus housing.
The residence halls will open at 12:00 PM on Sunday, January 18, 2026.
Dining will reopen for Brunch at 12 PM on Sunday, January 18, 2026.
Classes resume on Tuesday, January 20, 2026.
Winter Break Housing/ Break Application
You must complete the break application if you meet any of the following criteria:
- You are participating in the graduation ceremony
- To be submitted on behalf of your group sponsor/advisor. Students are advised to consult
their group advisor to verify that they are included on the Group Break Stay request.
- You are required to stay on campus for university-related reasons
- You are unable to vacate by 6:00 PM
- You cannot vacate at all
- You need to return to campus before 12:00 PM on January 18.
The break application will be available on your Housing and Dining Portal under “Contracts/Request
Forms” from November 7 until Friday, December 5. Please note that a nightly fee of
$50 may apply, and no one will be permitted to stay without prior written approval
from Residence Life and Housing. Relocation for Winter Break is a possibility. Residence
Life and Housing will communicate these plans with approved stays.
Attention Graduates And Graduation Participants
Approved late stays for graduates and those participating in the graduation ceremony
will be approved to stay at the latest until 6:00 PM Saturday, December 13th. Any
need to stay past this departure time will not be considered university-related, and
a nightly fee of $50.00 will be assessed.
If You Are Transferring Or Leaving The University
- Contact your hall staff to discuss your departure and what you will need to do before
you leave. You will need to schedule a time to check out of your room appropriately
so you will not be charged improper check-out fees.
- Complete the Housing Contract Release Request in your Housing and Dining Portal under
Contracts/Request Forms.
- Follow the process to complete your withdrawal from the University. You can contact
Records and Registration with questions.
Before Leaving For Winter Break
Please prepare your room as outlined below before leaving campus:

- Unplug, defrost, and wipe out refrigerators! Any water leakage that causes damage
will be assessed if defrosted improperly. Close and lock your windows
- Leave your drapes/window coverings open (unless you are living on the ground level)
- Gather and empty all trash
- Unplug ALL electrical cords.
- Throw away perishable foods
- TAKE HOME FISH. They cannot stay over Winter Break
- Turn your HEAT to 65 degrees on the heat setting (if applicable).
- Doors to wall unit heaters need to be cleared so maintenance can inspect heating units
during the break (if applicable).
- Turn off lights
- Lock all doors in your suite
- Complete the break sheet on your door
- Take home wheeled transportation that is locked up outside.

during break periods. You may want to consider taking your more valuable items home with you over the break.
Spring 2026 Early Arrival Information
The residence halls will open at 12:00 pm on Sunday, January 18, 2026. If you need to move into your residence hall before this date and time, you must complete
the early arrival application. The early arrival application will be available on
your Housing and Dining Portal, under “Contracts/Request Forms,” starting Friday, December 5, 2025. Please note that a nightly fee of $50 may apply. No one will be permitted to arrive early without prior written approval
from Residence Life and Housing. Students must be registered for the Spring 2026 semester
to live in campus housing.

permission to remain from the Residence Life and Housing Office. Dining services are not available over the break.
- The residence halls will open at 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 15, 2026.
- Dining will reopen for Dinner on Sunday, March 15
- Classes resume Monday, March 16, 2026.
Spring Break Housing / Break Application

No need to take home all items if you are planning on returning in the spring.
