High School Students, Get Ahead
Deadline to apply for the Spring semester is December 1st and the deadline to apply for the Fall and Summer semester is May 1st.
Learn how to apply
PennWest’s dual enrollment provides high school juniors and seniors the opportunity
to take college classes while still in high school. (Note: Sophomore student eligibility
is on a conditional basis determined by PennWest Admissions.) These college credits
may also count towards your high school graduation requirements as well as be posted
on your future university academic transcript.
Dual enrollment is available during the fall, spring, and summer sessions. Students are allowed to take one class per term. More classes per term are allowed only at the discretion of PennWest’s Provost. All courses are taught by qualified PennWest faculty.
On campus or online, you choose
You can register for a class through Global Online or at one of PennWest’s three campus locations: California, Clarion, or Edinboro. However, on-campus courses are only available to high school students on a case-by-case basis and with the permission of the instructor and provost. Contact our admissions office to learn more about current class availability.
For more information, contact Ayla Stopko, Assistant Director of Admissions and Dual Enrollment Coordinator.
Eligibility for dual enrollment
Students will need to have a cumulative 3.0 high school GPA or higher and supply their high school transcript as well as an application to PennWest before being admitted to the dual enrollment program. A parental consent form and financial terms and conditions form will be needed prior to registration. Be sure to select “Dual Enrollment” as your student type in the application.
