Registration is now open for the 2023 BizPitch competition. Students develop and deliver an effective, professional business pitch presenting an innovative and marketable business concept. Full-time and part-time students enrolled in the fall semester on the Clarion campus may enter individually or in teams of up to four and will present a five- to seven-minute pitch outlining their business to a panel of judges. Last year’s winners were:

First place, $3,000, and Fan Favorite, $250 – Jada Smith’s S.W.A.G. (Scholars With Athletic/Academic/Artistic) is a non-profit organization dedicated to motivating, uplifting, encouraging and helping young women reach their goals through mentorship, workshops and scholarships. The goal is to encourage, empower and elevate young women by providing them with resources to reach their dreams.

Second place, $2,000 – Kai Kueper’s USBB provides guidance to youth basketball players on their path to professional basketball. In order to achieve this, they have multiple expected incomes to finance equipment, dorms and tutors, as necessary, to achieve academic and athletic excellence.

Third place, $1,000 – Jenna Joseph’s Friendful is a mobile application that connects peers based on shared experiences, including mental health diagnoses. The purpose of this application is to connect individuals who otherwise may feel isolated, therefore improving their livelihood and quality of life.
