More than 100 students at PennWest California walked the walk on April 25 as they demonstrated their support for those who have been victims of sexual assault.

Fraternities and members of men’s athletic teams led the way for the campus’ annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event.

In its 11th year on campus, the walk is organized by Cal’s End Violence Center to support the It’s On Us initiative to end sexual assaults on college campuses.

Anyone can fall victim to sexualized violence, regardless of gender identity, according to the Walk a Mile in Her Shoes website, which notes that “sexualized violence devalues women, female practices, feminine ways of thinking, feeling and being, feminine energy, and femme presentation.”

The It’s On Us initiative combats campus sexual assault by engaging all students, including young men, and activating the largest student organizing program of its kind in grassroots awareness and prevention education programs.
