Dr. Phillip Freese, dean of the College of Business, Communication and Information Sciences, addresses the students from Italy.

Thirty-eight high school students from Istituto Bonifacio VII in Anagni, Italy, visited PennWest California on Oct. 15.

The campus visit was part of ongoing discussions between PennWest and the school to offer a seamless transition from high school to admission to PennWest Global Online.

Dr. Yugo Ikach, associate vice president for the Global Online program, facilitated the visit, which included a campus tour and information sessions with Dr. Phillip Freese, dean of the PennWest College of Business, Communication and Information Sciences, other professors and Career Services.

After the visit at PennWest California, students attended the season opening Washington Symphony Orchestra concert, “WSO Italiano,” which was directed by Ikach. Primo Italiano Lodge 2800, Sons and Daughters of Italy, Washington, recognized the 38 students with honorary membership certificates.

The students and their chaperones are on a 51-day tour of the United States, including several stops in western Pennsylvania.
