At the beginning of the fall 2022 semester, Edinboro students and faculty members created the Women’s Basketball Club – which is now 11 members strong. The team practices two times per week in the Pogue Student Center.

This season, the squad played against other university women’s club teams such as St. Bonaventure, Pittsburgh, and Walsh – posting a winning record. Next season, the club plans to join the National Club Basketball Association (NCBBA) Women’s Division, which is the largest university basketball club league in the country. Other teams in Edinboro’s conference will likely be Oswego, Brockport, St. Bonaventure, Buffalo and Niagara.

Also, at the beginning of the spring 2023 semester, the club tradition continues with the creation of the Edinboro Men’s Basketball Club.  The club has already grown to over a dozen member players.

Next season, the club plans to join the NCBBA Men’s Division, where it will likely be placed in a conference with club teams from Penn State, Robert Morris, Pittsburgh, Clarion, Carnegie Mellon and Dickinson.

PennWest Edinboro will host the NCBBA Men’s North Atlantic Regional Championship in the Pogue Student Center April 1-2. Games will take place at 12:30 p.m., 2:15 p.m. and 4 p.m., Saturday, April 1, with the championship game at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 2.

The winner of this eight-team tournament will advance to the NCBBA National Championship Tournament. Thus far, the NCBBA has announced that Penn State, Montclair State, Robert Morris, and The College of New Jersey have qualified to play in this tournament.
