PennWest Clarion will celebrate Homecoming Sept. 30 and Oct. 1. Autumn Leaf Festival will be in full swing, and Homecoming festivities will kick off Friday with the 2022 Distinguished Awards Banquet which will honor six individuals for their contributions in their professional and philanthropic lives.

 

Saturday’s schedule of events begins with Eggs with Ernie from 10 a.m. to noon in the parking lot of Hart Chapel. All are welcome to enjoy free mid-morning breakfast bites with your favorite Golden Eagle. Visitors can take part in family-friendly activities and visit information tables from various areas of campus. Don’t forget to pick up your commemorative 2022 Homecoming pin.

 

The Butler Health System/Clarion Hospital Tournament of Leaves Parade starts at noon and will proceed down Main Street, toward Memorial Stadium. At the stadium, the Eagle End Zone Alumni Party begins at 1 p.m. At 2p.m., Clarion Golden Eagles football will take on the California Vulcans. Homecoming royalty will be crowned at halftime.

 

A free shuttle service between Hart Chapel and Memorial Stadium will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. In addition, ATA will offer handicapped accessible shuttle bus service from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The approximately 15-minute loop begins at Clarion Mall, with pick-up/drop-off at Walmart and at the corner of 5th Avenue and Wood Street. The bus will then return to Clarion mall to begin the loop again. Free to students with PennWest ClarionID, children under 6 and individuals 65 and older; others pay $1.25 (exactchange required).

 

Don’t miss the 8-10 p.m. Clarion River Brewing performance of Brothers Incorporated & the TNT Horns, a band started by four Clarion music majors in 1986 to compete in the university’s Battle of the Bands. In recent years, the band has been rehearsing together and playing shows in Pennsylvania.
