PennWest California will celebrate a “Back to the Future” Homecoming on Saturday, Oct. 14.

Events begin at 10 a.m. on the lawn near Duda Hall, with food vendors and family friendly activities. The annual Party on the Patio at Kara Alumni House begins at 10:30, with a special 50th anniversary welcome to the Class of 1973.

The Homecoming Parade begins at noon. Participants will step off from the Convocation Center and continue down Third Street through California borough before turning on Union Street and Second Street before returning to campus. Parade grand marshal is Bruce Wald, California class of 1985, a longtime employee at the university.

Also at noon, the women’s soccer team will play Gannon at the Phillipsburg field, followed by the men’s game vs. Mercyhurst at 2:30 p.m.

After the parade, Homecoming festivities continue with tailgating at Roadman Park, on California’s upper campus. Food trucks, offerings from Laurel Highlands Brewing and Bella Terra Vineyards, and an alumni tent will be part of the fun for Vulcan Nation.

At 3:30 p.m. the Homecoming football game kicks off, with the Vulcans taking on the Seton Hill Griffins. The Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned at halftime.
