PennWest California Theatre will present “All in the Timing,” a series of six, one-act plays by American playwright David Ives, beginning Oct. 19 at the Blaney Blackbox Theatre in Steele Hall.

The shows will begin at 7 p.m. Oct. 19-21, with a 2 p.m. matinee Oct. 21.

The show features six Cal students, each handling multiple roles to make up the one-act plays, said show director and PennWest California theatre professor Dr. John Paul Staszel.

“You can’t go wrong with six short plays,” he said. “Our actors have taken each of their characters to heart. From being monkeys to a waitress to a Russian activist, each role has a different voice and mannerisms and (the students) have all stepped up to give the characters their own identity.”

Senior Carlin Croushore is serving as assistant director and stage manager for “All in the Timing,” with junior Michael Falbo acting as the production stage manager. Seniors Jillian Bruni-Cryster and Rebecca Remp, and sophomores Aidan Cheek, Blake Dowd, Maria Centellas and Alayna Henry serve as the show’s cast .

“The show is wild and wacky,” said Croushore. “It’s a fun ride through time, with a lot of fun comedy, both physical and wordplay. The show has something for everyone.”

In addition, Cal Theatre will pack up the show and hit the road for one performance at PennWest Clarion. That show will start at 7 p.m. Oct. 22 in the Marwick-Boyd Little Theatre. The show is free for all Clarion community members.

“Our set design students did an amazing job making sure the set was minimalistic in its design,” Staszel said. “It gave us the ability to tour with ‘All in the Timing,’ which gives our whole cast and crew experience on what a touring show feels like. It will be a great experience for the cast.”
