A Pennsylvania Western University alumna has made history as the first female full-time athletic trainer for the Green Bay Packers.

Erin Roberge ’22, has worked with the Packers organization since 2020 . She earned her master’s degree in exercise science from PennWest California in December.

"Through the internship experiences over the last few years, it became apparent to us that Erin would be a great addition to our staff," said Packers Director of Sports Medicine and Head Athletic Trainer Bryan Engel." She shares a passion for the athletic-training profession and is dedicated to providing our players with the highest-quality health care in the NFL."

Roberge is in good company . Both Packers Director of Rehabilitation Nate Weir and Strength and Conditioning Assistant Mark Lovat have earned master’s degrees from the exercise science program.

"We are extremely proud of Erin and look forward to the great things she will do over her career,” said Exercise Science Program Director Dr. Barry McGlumphy. “Being an intern for a professional football team while completing a master's degree in exercise science is no small task. Erin's dedication and passion was obvious during this journey and led to her full-time position. I am personally very gratified to add Erin to our long list of program alumni working in the NFL.”

PennWest offers 10 master's degree concentrations in exercise science, with full-time and part-time options for interested students. PennWest also offers a fully online bachelor's degree in Exercise Science. In October, EduMed – a leading higher-education healthcare consultant – named the bachelor’s degree the No. 1 online exercise science degree program in the nation.
