Building a Future Through Connection

Courtney KeeslingAs an education major at PennWest California, Courtney Kiesling knew she was preparing for a career of impact. But what she didn’t expect was how much her time at PennWest would shape her personally as well as professionally.

"The friendships and faculty connections I’ve made here will last a lifetime. Relationships are what make the college experience so powerful."

Kiesling immersed herself in student life, becoming involved in Student Government, the Leadership Academy, mentoring programs, and multiple honor societies. She even became known for her love of campus housing, choosing to live in the dorms for all four years.

"The dorms weren’t just a place to sleep—they were where I found some of my closest friends. We’ve already talked about being in each other’s weddings someday."

Her passion for education extends beyond the classroom. She’s currently gaining hands-on experience as a student teacher, where she’s learning the realities of teaching firsthand.

"Being in the classroom, working directly with students—it’s exactly why I chose this path. Teaching isn’t just about academics; it’s about shaping young lives."

Now, Kiesling is preparing for the next step, exploring different school districts to find the right fit for her teaching career.

"I want to be somewhere that values education the way I do. This is more than a job—it’s a calling."
