Winter has arrived across PennWest. We want to advise you of the wind chill advisories that have been issued by the National Weather Service and inform you about PennWest’s procedures for announcing delays, class cancellations and campus closures due to extreme weather conditions.
Wind Chill Advisory
On the heels of the National Weather Service issuing wind chill advisories across PennWest this week, the campus community should ensure that you wear appropriate winter clothing (coat, hat, gloves, dress in layers, etc.) when outside.
Delays/Cancellations/Closures
Winter weather implications vary by campus due to geographic locations and state and local resources. During inclement weather events including extreme cold, wind chill, ice and snow conditions, designated campus personnel will continuously monitor local and regional conditions.
Campus personnel attempt to evaluate the conditions of campus and the surrounding areas as early as possible to determine if delays/cancellations/closures are required. While changing weather conditions may challenge our ability to make timely decisions, our goal is to make delay/cancellation/closure decisions no later than 6 a.m.
In case of bad weather conditions, changes to the campus’ operating schedule will be announced through the campus emergency notification system and posted on the corresponding campus website. The other PennWest campuses will receive an email from Communications with guidance, and information will be posted on that campus’ website.

Please remember to dress appropriately for the weather (including proper footwear designed for snow), look where you are walking, and allow plenty of time to reach your destination.
