Venango Campus Transition

Cultural and economic growth in Venango County will get a boost under a plan developed by the Oil Region Alliance of Business, Industry and Tourism and Pennsylvania Western University Clarion for the university’s Venango property.

Starting in fall 2024, pending approval by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, the Associate of Science in Nursing will relocate to the Clarion campus.

The Clarion University Foundation, Inc. student apartment complex at PennWest Clarion – Venango is scenically situated on 65 acres of wooded hillside overlooking the Allegheny River in Oil City. Oil City offers a congenial, small-town setting for students and boasts a variety of local restaurants, antique shops, bike trails, outdoor activities, cultural opportunities and more.

Housing Requirement

All freshman and transfer students are eligible to apply for housing at Venango campus, though living on campus is not required.

Campus Resources

Clarion provides numerous resources to students who live on campus, with the aim of fostering personal development, meaningful engagement and life-long relationships. The Robert W. Rhoades Student Center is a hub for student activity, boasting student clubs and organizations like Nursing (ASN) Club, Campus Activities Board, CU Serve, Phi Theta Kappa, and the Venango Veterans Club. Suhr Library and Learning Commons is another space where students can gather to socialize and study. The Rhoades Fitness Center offers fitness equipment and exercise classes for students to stay active and healthy. Academic tutoring, accomodations and wellness services, including counseling, are also available on campus.
