What You'll Study
You’ll begin with two core courses: Constitutional Law and Court Systems. These courses
introduce the U.S. Constitution, branches of government, the purpose and structure
of the American legal system and the processes of the courts.
You’ll then choose four electives from multiple disciplines. Options allow you to
explore topics such as business law and ethics, criminal law, civil liberties, forensic
law, school law, psychology and the law, constitutional history, sports law and American
politics. By choosing courses that align with your interests, you can build a legal
studies focus that complements your primary major.

How You'll Learn
The Legal Studies Certificate is available fully online and in a blended format at PennWest’s California, Clarion and Edinboro campuses. A blended program combines online coursework with scheduled in-person learning experiences, giving you the flexibility to complete part of your work remotely while still engaging face to face with faculty and classmates. The exact mix of online and on-campus learning may vary by course.
