PennWest advances sustainability with new paperless policy

Pennsylvania Western University is taking another step toward a digital-first, forward-thinking future with the launch of a new Sustainability and Paperless Policy. The initiative reflects PennWest’s commitment to responsible stewardship of resources and innovative practices that strengthen our community.

As part of this shift, the Print Services Center at the California campus will phase out operations and officially close Friday, Nov. 7.

Students, faculty, and staff will continue to have access to PennWest’s secure network of printers and copiers across all campuses. These devices support black-and-white and color printing, double-sided copies, scanning, and larger paper formats, ensuring that essential printing needs are still met.

For projects that require specialized printing, such as large orders or materials not suited for campus devices, departments and organizations can submit requests through University Communications and Marketing, which will manage vendor quotes to ensure efficiency and fiscal responsibility.

To help the community embrace digital-first practices, UCM will launch an expanded PennWest Brand Center in the coming months. This online hub will offer templates, graphics, and guidance to make creating professional, consistent, and environmentally responsible materials easier than ever. Workshops will also be offered later this fall to support the transition.
