PennWest University is proud to announce the launch of the Experiential Learning Center (ELC), a new initiative housed within the Career Center that connects students with hands-on learning experiences designed to complement classroom education and prepare them for life after graduation.

Guided by the philosophy of “Learning by Doing,” the ELC serves as a centralized hub to support and promote internships, project-based learning, global experiences, and other high-impact practices. Through the Center, students can explore opportunities that align with their academic and career goals, while gaining real-world experience and building professional networks. The ELC will partner with faculty, staff, and employers to support experiential learning initiatives.

“Our goal is to make experiential learning accessible, intentional, and transformative,” said Rhonda Gifford, Executive Director of the Center. “The ELC helps students apply what they’re learning in the classroom to meaningful work in their communities and industries.”

The launch includes a new website where students can learn about available programs, find resources, and connect with staff for personalized support.

By bridging academics with applied learning, the ELC empowers students to gain confidence, clarify career paths, and make an impact, both during their time at PennWest and beyond.
