PennWest students attend finance diversity symposium
Eight students across PennWest attend 'Diversitas" workshop
Eight PennWest finance and personal financial planning students recently attended a one-day symposium – titled “Diversitas” – at The University of Akron. The mission of “Diversitas” is to expand diversity in the wealth management and personal financial planning industry.
PennWest faculty member Dr. Michael Engdahl, of the Business, Economics and Communication Department, accompanied the PennWest group to the symposium.
During this four-hour event, students learned about the state of the wealth building and personal financial planning profession, various of roles within the profession, importance of improving diversity within the profession, how to network and professional designations – including the Certified Financial Planner designation.
All students are currently enrolled in PennWest University’s CFP Board Registered Programs and will have completed courses on wealth building and personal financial planning, federal individual income taxation, investments, retirement planning and estate planning by the time they graduate.
Students will also be eligible to sit for the CFP Exam once they graduate.
