About Me

Dr. Kimberly Yost is an Assistant Professor of Management in the Department of Business, Economics, and Communication on the California Campus and online. Her academic scholarship centers on the intersection of popular culture and leadership to discover how popular culture influences our understanding of leaders and the practice of leadership. 

She is the author of Courageous Companions: Followership in Doctor Who (Emerald), From Starship Captains to Galactic Rebels: Leaders in Science Fiction Television (Rowman & Littlefield), co-editor of Leadership, Popular Culture, and Social Change (Edward Elgar), and contributed to various edited volumes, including Masculinities in 21st Century Science Fiction Television (Bloomsbury), Gender, Media, and Organization: Mis(s)Representations of Women Leaders and Managers (InfoAge), Leadership, Populism, and Resistance (Edward Elgar), The Embodiment of Leadership (Jossey-Bass), The Routledge Companion to Leadership, and The Sage Encyclopedia of Leadership.

Dr. Yost is an editorial board member for the Interdisciplinary Journal of Leadership Studies. She has presented her research at numerous international leadership conferences.

Dr. Yost earned her PhD in Leadership and Change from Antioch University and a Masters in Organizational Leadership from Lourdes University.  Her primary teaching responsibilities are in undergraduate management courses but has also taught communication courses and in the MBA program.
