About Me
Dr. Sweitzer is a tenured, full professor in the Social Work, Sociology and Human Services Department. She is a Nationally Certified School Psychologist, certified school psychologist in Pennsylvania and West Virginia and is certified as a K-12 principal in West Virginia. She has been employed as a certified family therapist, school psychologist and assistant principal prior to her employment at Penn West: Cal U. She has completed a post-baccalaureate certificate in forensic science and law from Duquesne University. She is a graduate of Violent Behavior 1, a specialized and invited training offered by former and retired members of the Behavioral Science Unit of the FBI. Dr. Sweitzer is the Program Coordinator for the Sociology: Social Deviance Concentration and advisor for Liberal Studies Majors.
She is the author of Developing Social Interest in Conduct Disordered Adolescents: An Adlerian Approach, a contributing author in Career Development in the Schools, Health Hints for Kids, National Student Assistance Journal, Journal of Individual Psychology, The Journal of Law and Ethics, and co-authored several articles in the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. Dr. Sweitzer consults with various school districts on violence prevention, bullying, and positive social development and is a consultant with the Department of Veteran Affairs Law Enforcement Training Center. She has presented extensively on issues of aggression at both National and International conferences. Dr. Sweitzer has appeared on WPIXTV's "Target 11 Investigates: School Safety Reports", in various newspapers and on-line venues and webinars relating to social profiling and social/psychological dynamics. She also is a consultant for hit TV shows including “ Law & Order” "Dopesick," "Messiah," "Lucifer," "Rosewood," "The Blacklist," "Bones," "CSI," and "Notorious”.
