About Me
Dr. Renae Applegate Shawgo is a tenured Associate Professor of English at PennWest Clarion where she teaches writing and literature. She is also the Coordinator of the Clarion Writing Center. Before teaching at Clarion, Dr. Shawgo taught American and Southern literature at Shorter University in Rome, Georgia, where she was also the Writing Center Director. She has been teaching writing and literature at the college level for over two decades. Dr. Shawgo has most recently published essays on Southern and Appalachian literature/culture in The North Carolina Literary Review, Mississippi Quarterly, West Virginia History, and Pennsylvania English. She also recently published a nonfiction essay in the journal Works & Days. She has published poetry in online and print forums, including the online journal Mothers Always Write and Impost.
