About Me
Dr. Candice Riley is an Associate Professor in the Department of Business, Economics & Communication. She teaches courses in Management, Parks and Recreation Management, and Event Planning Management. Dr. Riley believes that parks and leisure are an essential component of our overall well-being. In her courses, Dr. Riley encourages students to set aside time for leisure and examines the role parks and events play in communities. In addition to teaching courses, Dr. Riley is the director and program coordinator of the parks and recreation management curriculum, serves on several committees including the Presidential Search Committee, Faculty Senate, and Appreciative Advising. Dr Riley also advises students and became a Certified Appreciative Advisor in 2021. Dr. Riley holds the following degrees: B.S. Recreation Tourism Management, Concord University, M.S. Recreation, Parks, and Tourism Resources, West Virginia University, and Ph.D. Forest Resources Science, emphasis in Recreation, Parks, and Tourism Resources, West Virginia University. Dr. Riley’s research interests include policy administration, off-highway vehicle use, crowding, coping behaviors, and recreation management strategies. In her leisure time, Dr. Riley enjoys swimming, reading, cooking (trying out new recipes), scenic drives, and collecting vinyl records.
