About Me
For as long as I can remember, my primary interests have revolved around information and how we understand the world. The latter are key to my choosing to major in psychology and philosophy as an undergrad. My first Master's degree (i.e., Student Personnel in Higher Education) reflects my second professional passion: student success. Post-Integration, the combination of these was the foundation for my becoming PWU's "Student Success Librarian."
Prior to coming to Edinboro in 1999, I worked as a librarian at Juniata College and then at Mansfield University (now part of Commonwealth University of PA). Throughout my career, in addition to the various forms of support and instruction I continue to provide as a librarian, I have also been involved with a number of information- and/or student-success related initiatives and activities. Some highlights include developing and teaching a course for the Honors Program: "Information: Self, Society, and the World," serving (pre-COVID) as Edinboro's First-Year Experience Coordinator, and working with Undeclared students and their parents.
On a personal level, I enjoy reading, hiking, and especially writing. As an author, I've had several professional articles and three textbooks published. I have also self-published a book of daily self-reflections inspired by various occupations, two books of poetry, and a novel. I am currently working with a student (illustrator) on a fifth book, a "whimsical" approach to common digraphs (e.g., CH, GH) with which many entry-level readers struggle to read/pronounce.
