Dr. Meg Larson is an accomplished nursing professional with extensive experience in both clinical practice and academia. She brings a wealth of expertise to the field of nursing education and healthcare delivery.
Dr. Larson began her academic journey at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) in 1987. Building upon this foundation, she pursued further education at the same institution, completing her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) in 1997. Driven by a commitment to advancing her skills and knowledge, she obtained her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from Robert Morris University in 2009. Additionally, recognizing the importance of effective pedagogy in nursing education, Dr. Larson obtained a Certificate in Medical Education from the University of New England.
Dr. Larson has a proven track record of excellence in teaching, having served as a faculty member at Franklin Pierce University from 2012 to 2013, and subsequently joining the faculty at PennWest Edinboro in 2015, where she continues to educate future registered nurses and advanced practice nurses. Her dedication to fostering a supportive learning environment and cultivating critical thinking skills among her students is evident in her teaching philosophy and classroom practices.
In addition to her academic pursuits, Dr. Larson has amassed a wealth of clinical experience across various healthcare settings. She has worked at esteemed institutions such as the University of North Carolina, where she specialized in Orthopedic and Trauma nursing, Halifax Memorial Hospital, where she provided care in Labor and Delivery and Postpartum units, and the Cleveland Clinic, where she focused on Immunology. Her tenure at Saint Vincent Hospital, where she worked in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), further solidified her clinical expertise.
As a Nurse Practitioner, Dr. Dr. Larson practiced for over 25 years at the he Erie VA Primary Care and currently is on staff for Pitt VA Endocrinology, where she delivers comprehensive care to her patients, utilizing both traditional face-to-face interactions and modern telehealth modalities. Her commitment to staying abreast of advancements in healthcare technology and adapting her practice to meet the evolving needs of patients underscores her dedication to providing high-quality, patient-centered care.
Dr. Larson supports the future of nursing through practice, education, and research. Research interests include clinical education, health literacy, telehealth and diabetes.
