Hilary Copp, PhD

Dr. Hilary Copp is an associate professor in the Department of Social Work, Sociology, and Human Services. She holds a Master of Divinity from the University of Chicago and an MSW and PhD in social work from the University of Georgia, and maintains current licensure (LSW) in the state of Pennsylvania. She teaches social work practice, research, and field in both the BSW and MSW programs and served as the director of the undergraduate program from 2011-2021.

Dr. Copp's research interests center primarily on LGBTQ individuals and issues, with a specific focus on school climate for LGBTQ students at both the secondary and collegiate levels. Her clinical practice experience includes work with members of the LGBTQ population, sexual and gender identity, college students, older adults, and Holocaust survivors. She lives in Erie with her spouse and two extremely spoiled cats.
