About Me
Melissa Hatton has been a member of the Exercise, Health, and Sport Science faculty since 2010. She is a graduate of California University of PA where she earned a master’s degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion and a post-master’s certificate in Nutrition. Melissa’s passion for promoting wellness extends beyond the classroom. In addition to teaching at PennWest, she has managed a personal training business since 2007, works as a Subject Matter Expert and Master Instructor for the National Academy of Sports Medicine, and has participated as an Item Writer and Editor for the NASM Certified Personal Trainer exam. Melissa practices what she teaches and enjoys being outdoors hiking and swimming. A former runner, she has participated in numerous 5k and 10k races, half-marathons, and triathlons. When not outdoors with her husband, Jeff, and their two adult children, she can be found with her nose in a riveting mystery novel.
