About Me

Dr. Diane Fine is an Associate Professor in the Department of Education with over 30 years of experience serving children, pre- and in-service teachers, and families across the tri-state region. Dr. Fine serves as the graduate coordinator for the Reading Specialist Program and teaches graduate and undergraduate classes in the face-to-face and online setting for the Early Childhood and Elementary Education Program.

Prior to joining the faculty at PennWest, Dr. Fine taught in the public-school setting for over 20 years, serving students and their families at the PreK, elementary, and middle school levels in general education, special education, gifted education, and as a reading specialist.

Dr. Fine’s academic background includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from West Virginia Wesleyan College, a Master of Education degree in Special Education from California University of Pennsylvania, a Graduate Certificate in Technology Integration K-12 from George Mason University, a Master of Arts in Reading from West Virginia University, and a Doctor of Education in Curriculum & Instruction, Literacy Studies from West Virginia University.                                                                

Dr. Fine is passionate about teaching, learning, and inspiring the next generation of teachers. She takes great pride in empowering current and future teachers to become innovative educational leaders who understand how continually evolving state-of-the-art digital literacies and technologies can be leveraged to create a collaborative, student-centered learning environment. She strives to help all teachers become technologically proficient innovators and problem solvers ready to lead change in education.
