About Me
David W. Martin graduated with a BFA in Printmaking from the University of Oklahoma in 1985. He went on the achieve his MFA in Sculpture from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1989.
During the next six years he remained in Richmond, VA. teaching as an adjunct faculty at VCU in the Foundation Program and Sculpture Department. Concurrent to this, he maintained a studio space where he produced his artwork. During this time, he was represented at the “Henri Gallery” a prominent venue in Washington D.C.
In 1995 he was hired at Ohio State University as the Sculpture and Glass Programs Studio Technician, while simultaneously teaching courses in drawing and foundry processes for the OSU Art Department through 1997.
Professor Martin began his appointment at Edinboro University as an Instructor in the fall semester of 1997. Eventually hired as an Assistant Professor in 2000, he teaches 3D Foundations and all levels of Sculpture. He has since been promoted to Full Professor in 2010.
D.W. Martin is currently working and living in Edinboro, PA. where he teaches art and maintains his studio production. He exhibits large outdoor sculptures in Pennsylvania Ohio, West Virginia, Virginia, New York, Michigan, and Tennessee. He is represented by “Flatlanders Gallery” located in Michigan between Detroit and Toledo, OH. He is also affiliated with the “Midwest Sculpture Initiative” through which he exhibits consistently in Michigan, Ohio and Indiana.
