About Me
Dr. Christina Weidle is an Associate Professor in the Department of Nursing, College of Health Sciences and Human Services. She is the co-coordinator for the Associate Degree of Nursing program at Pennsylvania Western University. She teaches in both didactic and clinical settings and leads simulation lab scenarios. Her nursing experience includes Cardiac care, Intensive Care, Case Management, and Quality improvement. She currently works casually as a staff nurse in the Behavioral Health Unit at UPMC Northwest. A supervisor noted, “She is the type of educator who will continually look for opportunities to improve her teaching methods.” Christina has developed several creative ways to assist her students in being successful by holding supplemental study sessions, Preppin’ with the Prof lessons, and a series of “NCLEX Pearl” emails, to name a few. She has mentored several MSN students and new nurse educators. She maintains her experience as a nurse educator by attending and participating in multiple trainings. Dr. Weidle participated in curricular redesign for the ASN program and was instrumental in obtaining a successful ACEN accreditation.
At the university level, she is involved in various committees and activities. She served as the Co-Chair on the PennWest Strategic Planning / Assessment Subcommittee. She also represented Venango in the Faculty Senate and held a leadership position in the Venango Faculty Forum. She is the chair of the Nursing Scholarship Committee. She is the ASN Nursing Club Advisor, leading the club in service to the community. Examples include the 5K Walk/Run for the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association’s Go Red Day, and local food and clothing drives. She has coordinated the ASN Nursing Pinning Program. She is actively involved with several university events, participating in student recruitment events, new student orientations, and welcome days, and she regularly attends commencement ceremonies.
Dr. Weidle's commitment to nursing extends beyond her role at the University. She is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Pennsylvania Nurses Association and The American Nurses Association. She is also the current president of the local Sigma Theta Tau International Mu Xi Chapter, reflecting her leadership in the nursing community. Outside her professional commitments, she is actively involved in the Oil City and Venango County communities. She serves in various roles in her church, including as a teacher, minister, lector, and faith community nurse. She is a member of the local Daughters of the American Revolution chapter. She has coordinated community events such as the Oil Heritage Children’s Parade and the Oil Heritage Junior Olympics.
