Jumpstart your career in the Thriving Sports Industry! Our Bachelor of Science in Sport Management at PennWest equips you with both theoretical insights and hands-on experience, ensuring you're ready for the demands of today's employers in this multi-billion-dollar field.
Beginning with their very first semester, students are provided opportunities to gain volunteer work experience, join the Sport Management Club and other extracurricular activities, attend professional conferences and begin networking with professional sports executives.

Small class sizes mean each professor will know students by name. They will serve as mentors and develop with students a solid foundation that includes leadership theory, personnel management, law and liability. The well-rounded curriculum will also provide students with insight into program development, implementation, evaluation, and sports and recreational facility design.
After completing all required coursework, students will take on a 12-credit internship that mirrors a full-time position in the industry. Students will select the site for this experience which, in many cases, has led to career growth opportunities, including full-time employment.
Beginning in their very first semester, students will have opportunities to volunteer. Opportunities are provided at a variety of on-campus and off-campus sites, such as campus athletics, local high schools athletics, local YMCAs, the Pittsburgh Marathon, Special Olympics and others.
