PennWest marks Women’s History Month

Pennsylvania Western University will celebrate Women’s History Month with two events: the inaugural Women’s History Month Speaking Engagement and the Women in Business Professional Panel.

The Speaking Engagement, held in alignment with this year’s national Women’s History Month theme, “Moving Forward Together! Women Educating and Inspiring Generations,” is set for 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. March 20 in PennWest California’s North Wing, rooms 6 and 7.

Dr. Michelle Torregano, associate professor of childhood education and PennWest’s director of the Frederick Douglass Institute Collaborative, will present the keynote address, “Live, Thrive and Survive.”

The Women in Business Professional Panel is set for noon to 2 p.m. March 28 at PennWest’s California, Clarion and Edinboro campuses. Two guest speakers will be in-person at each campus. Speakers are:

  • Courtney Steding, senior human resources business partner at Erie Insurance Group;
  • Jess Carroll, outreach coordinator at Franklin Industrial & Commercial Development Authority;
  • Morgan Hartley, supervisor of employee experience at HICO America;
  • Jess Morales, group human resources manager at Enterprise Mobility;
  • Nadia Shabanza-Pero, owner/founder of BeBe Design House/Wanderlust; and
  • Tracy Becker, executive director of Clarion Area Chamber of Business and Industry.

The event is offered in person and online. In-person locations are California’s Convocation Center North Wing; Clarion’s Gemmell 248, 250 and 252; and Edinboro’s Baron-Forness Library 710/711. Those attending in person will have a chance to win a $100 Amazon gift card. To join online, click here.
