PennWest names Eberly College of Science, Technology and Business

The PennWest University Council of Trustees on April 23, 2026, approved the naming of the Eberly College of Science, Technology and Business, recognizing decades of support from the Eberly family and their lasting impact on students and programs across the university.
The action, approved during the council’s quarterly meeting at PennWest Clarion, reflects more than $7 million in philanthropic support to PennWest and its legacy institutions, including scholarships and capital investments that have expanded access and opportunity for students.
“The Eberly family’s longstanding commitment to our students and our university has made a meaningful difference across generations,” said PennWest President Jon Anderson. “This naming honors that legacy while positioning the college for continued growth, visibility and impact.”
The college, which brings together programs in science, technology and business across PennWest’s California, Clarion and Edinboro campuses and Global Online, aligns with the university’s integrated, multi-campus model and its focus on preparing students for in-demand careers.
The council also recognized the service of student trustees Tyrique Whitson, PennWest California, and Timothy John, PennWest Clarion, who will graduate this spring. Both have served as student representatives on the board, providing important perspectives on behalf of the student body.
Succeeding them as student trustees will be Raechel Braun and Addison Gregory, who will begin their terms this summer. Braun, a student at PennWest Clarion, is actively involved in campus leadership and student engagement initiatives. Gregory, a student at PennWest California, has demonstrated a strong commitment to student advocacy and academic excellence.
“The contributions of our student trustees are invaluable,” Anderson said. “We thank Tyrique and Timothy for their service and look forward to the perspectives Raechel and Addison will bring to the council.”
