PennWest University Global Online graduate student Kassem Doghman has earned national recognition as a member of the Arab America Foundation's 40 Under 40 Class of 2026, honoring accomplished young Arab American professionals, entrepreneurs and community leaders from across the United States.
Doghman began his studies at PennWest in fall 2025, completed a post-baccalaureate certificate in Arabic Language and Linguistics in January 2026, and is expected to earn a Master of Arts in Arabic Language and Linguistics in August. He is one of just 40 recipients selected nationwide for the annual honor, which recognizes Arab Americans ages 30 to 40 who have demonstrated professional excellence, leadership and service to their communities.
Offered through PennWest Global Online, the Arabic Language and Linguistics program provides working professionals with the flexibility to advance their expertise in language, culture and communication while preparing them for careers in education, translation, interpretation, research and related fields.
"Kassem's journey is a powerful example of what lifelong learning can achieve," said Dr. Kristy Bishop, provost and vice president for Academic Affairs. "His dedication to advancing his education while continuing to serve as an educator, communicator and community leader reflects the determination, resilience and global perspective we value at PennWest.”
A Lebanese American journalist, educator and communications professional based in Michigan, Doghman has built a career spanning international media, higher education and language instruction.
Before immigrating to the United States in 2019, he spent more than a decade as a television host, news anchor, reporter, producer and university instructor in Lebanon. Since arriving in the United States, he has earned Michigan teaching certifications in Arabic and English as a Second Language, serves as an adjunct Arabic instructor at Henry Ford College and remains active in community service.
Doghman said PennWest's Global Online program made it possible to continue his education while balancing a demanding professional career, family responsibilities and community service.
"When I decided to pursue graduate study, I was looking for a program that fits both my professional goals and my life," Doghman said. "PennWest Global Online gave me the flexibility to continue teaching, serving my community, and growing as a scholar without putting my career on hold. Completing my post-baccalaureate certificate and now preparing to earn my master's degree have been an important part of my journey, and I'm honored to represent PennWest while receiving this national recognition. I hope my story encourages others to keep learning, embrace new opportunities, and believe that perseverance can open doors you never imagined."
The Arab America Foundation's 40 Under 40 program recognizes emerging leaders across fields including education, business, healthcare, law, engineering, public service, media and the arts. Doghman and the other members of the 2026 class will be recognized during the Arab America Foundation's CONNECT Empowerment Summit, Nov. 6-7, in the Washington, D.C., area.
