Edinboro
From gridiron to graduation
Reed Martin: The spark behind Edinboro’s special teams surge

The spring air carried a different kind of excitement for Reed Martin of Plum, Pennsylvania. For four years, those winds had often carried the roar of the crowd at Sox Harrison Stadium. But on May 3, it was the rustle of graduation gowns and the anticipation of a new chapter that filled the Edinboro campus.
Reed, a standout defensive back and punter for the Fighting Scots, walked across the stage to receive his diploma in Sport Management, a culmination of years of dedication on and off the field. The 2024 season had been a testament to his consistent excellence, earning him his fourth All-PSAC selection, with an impressive third selection to the first-team.
As a punter, Reed was in a league of his own. In 2024, he boomed 74 punts for an average of 41.6 yards, regularly flipping the field for the Scots. His highlight reel included 11 punts over 50 yards and a remarkable 15 punts downed inside the 20-yard line, showcasing both his power and precision. More than just a strong season, Reed leaves Edinboro as the program's leader in career punting average, a record that speaks volumes about his impact.
Beyond the statistics, Reed Martin was a leader, a teammate, and an integral part of the Edinboro community. The Fighting Scots will undoubtedly miss his powerful leg and keen defensive instincts, but Reed Martin's legacy as one of Edinboro's most decorated football players is firmly cemented. The future is wide open for this Plum native, and whatever path he chooses, he's sure to tackle it with the same dedication and skill that made him a star on the gridiron.
