PennWest finance students explore financial planning industry

Eight students from PennWest’s Finance and Personal Financial Planning program, led by professor Dr. Nan Li, participated in a professional development trip to Pittsburgh. During the two-day experience, PennWest students visited four leading financial firms in the region: Allegheny Financial Group, Beratung Advisors, Federated Hermes, and Fort Pitt Capital Group.
In addition to firm tours, students had the opportunity to connect with industry professionals during the Financial Planning Association Pittsburgh’s NextGen Networking event. These in-depth visits and networking sessions allowed participants to gain firsthand insight into company cultures, learn from experienced professionals, and expand their professional networks.
“Being welcomed into many key financial planning firms in the Pittsburgh region gave me valuable insights into how registered investment advisory firms value clients' goals and relationships,” said Edinboro student Chase Weaver.
The eight participating students – Cameron Cassell, Paige Dunlap, Matthew Herbe, Olivia Kaufmann, Sohrab Qarib, Nelson P. Shipley, Tristan C. Waldier and Chase M. Weaver – represented PennWest’s Edinboro, California, and online campuses.
