Greek life centennial and ‘Mythical Creatures’ take center stage at PennWest Edinboro Homecoming 2025
Edinboro welcomes alumni and community members to campus for annual Homecoming celebration, Oct. 9-11

PennWest Edinboro is bringing fantasy to life this fall with a Mythical Creatures-themed Homecoming celebration, October 9–11.
Music, art, reunions and activities for all ages will fill the PennWest Edinboro campus and the surrounding community throughout all three activity-packed days.
“Homecoming is one of our most treasured traditions,” said Amanda Brown Sissem, associate vice president of alumni engagement and Edinboro campus administrator. “The festivities bring together students, alumni and the entire community to celebrate what makes Edinboro special for each of us.”
Thursday, Oct. 9
Students will kick off the weekend with a spirited, tartan-clad Pep Rally at 7 p.m. at the Standing Stones near the Highlands Residence Halls.
Friday, Oct. 10
Friday’s events kick off at 9 a.m. with the sold-out 33rd Annual Alumni & Friends Golf Outing at Culbertson Hills Golf Club. Proceeds from the outing support initiatives of the Edinboro University Alumni Association.
From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Bruce Gallery inside Baron-Forness Library will host open hours, followed at 4 p.m. by a reunion reception for the Class of 1975 (registration required) at the Commonwealth House.
Alumni, friends and community members are invited to celebrate the centennial anniversary of Edinboro Greek life (registration required) beginning at 6 p.m. on the front lawn of Doucette Hall.
Edinboro’s Planetarium will present “Homecoming or Homegoing?” (registration required) at 6 and 8 p.m. in Cooper Science Center. Attendees will join Roger Sargent aboard Starship Earth for the cosmic journey of a lifetime. Weather permitting, guests can enjoy tours of the third-floor observatory after each show.
At 8 p.m., the Black Student Union Association and Student Government Association will host a Homecoming Dance in Frank G. Pogue Student Center.
Saturday, Oct. 11
Alumni and friends are invited to an open house at the Alumni House starting at 9 a.m. The Kilted Mile (registration required) gets underway at 10 a.m. Participants will begin the race at the crosswalk on Meadville Street between The Edinboro Hotel and Flip Café. The midpoint turn will occur at the corner of Meadville Street and Darrow Road, with runners turning back to finish at the original starting line.
Saturday morning’s main event, the annual Homecoming Parade, will step off at 11 a.m., beginning at the edge of campus on Darrow Road, proceeding north on Meadville Street and looping back to campus via Waterford, High and Normal streets.
In recognition of the Greek life centennial, past members of Edinboro Greek life are invited to walk in the parade (registration encouraged). Members of the community can register to participate in the parade here.
From 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., a family-friendly festival will fill the lawns along Meadville Street with children’s activities, local vendors, student art demonstrations and sales. A complimentary community lunch will be served at noon in front of Doucette Hall.
The Fighting Scots football team will host the California Vulcans at 2 p.m. in Sox Harrison Stadium. The 2005 PSAC West Champion football team and women’s soccer alumni will be recognized prior to kickoff, and the 2025 Homecoming Court will be presented during halftime.
Craft brews and spirits from the Lake Erie Ale Trail and Mishka Premium Vodka will be available for purchase inside the stadium at the Alumni and Friends Tailgate (must be 21 or older).
From kilts to unicorns, the Mythical Creatures theme promises to add enchantment to a weekend already rich in tradition, pride and community spirit.
