Faculty, staff and students gathered on the California campus this week to participate in a major milestone in construction of the new science building.
The final steel beam was signed by members of the PennWest community before being lifted into place. The “topping off” of the building, scheduled for Sept. 19, marks the completion of the structural frame and symbolizes the progress being made on a facility that will serve generations of students.
“Moments like this remind us of what we are building together—spaces that spark discovery, inspire innovation, and support student success,” said President Jon Anderson,
after adding his name to the beam.
The new science building will provide state-of-the-art labs, classrooms, and collaborative learning spaces designed to strengthen PennWest’s academic mission and regional impact. It is scheduled to open in early 2027.
