PennWest Edinboro alum Ashton Rider ’23 is making waves in the design world – literally.

Rider, a graphic designer for Scott Enterprises’ Splash Lagoon Indoor Water Park Resort in Erie, Pennsylvania, recently earned top honors at the World Waterpark Association’s International Wave Review Awards. Her front-lobby banner for Splash Lagoon won in the Print Media category, competing against some of the biggest names in the industry.

The banner was up against high-profile companies like Disney, Universal, Six Flags, Dollywood, Carnival Cruise Lines, Norwegian Cruise Lines, and many more.

With more than 300 entries across 11 categories, this recognition is especially meaningful.

“According to the World Waterpark Association, it was a big year, with more than 300 entries… making this achievement so incredibly amazing!” Rider said.

Rider traveled to Walt Disney World to accept the award in person on Oct. 22 at the WWA’s Annual Symposium & Trade Show at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, joined by Splash Lagoon’s mascot, Chester.
