Pennsylvania Western University students pursuing careers in education with a concentration in technology at the California campus will benefit from a new scholarship opportunity thanks to a generous donor.
The Harold L. Lesher Scholarship was established this week through a $314,000 estate gift from the late Harold L. Lesher, a 1945 graduate of what was then California State Teachers College. Lesher retired after a 42-year career as a teacher at Carlisle High School.
“An estate gift opens doors for students to achieve their educational aspirations for generations to come,” said Jon Anderson, president of PennWest. “We are forever grateful to Harold Lesher. His generosity supports scholarships that will help students succeed beyond financial barriers – a true reflection of his impressive and lasting legacy visible across our California campus.”
PennWest offers a wide range of degree options in teacher education with a technology concentration, including a Bachelor of Science in Education with a concentration in Technology Education, a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT), and a K-12 Technology Education Certification.
PennWest students benefit from the flexibility to learn in-person, hybrid, or online with access to financial aid – including grants and scholarships – to help keep the cost of higher education affordable.
