PennWest Clarion students collect items to help area agencies

Donations will benefit communities

Multiple student groups at PennWest Clarion are collecting items to donate to community agencies.

Rehab Club is partnering with the DuBois-based nonprofit We Care for Kids to have a shoe drive through March 25. Donations of new or gently used shoes in any adult size and in kids’ sizes 1-6 can be taken to collection boxes in Carlson Library, the Science and Technology Center or Harvey Hall room 214. The items will be used for We Care for Kids’ mission of providing necessities to local children in kindergarten through 12th grade.

Circle K and Psychology clubs are jointly collecting items for SAFE, Inc., a nonprofit, domestic violence awareness and prevention organization in Clarion, through March 31. Items needed are: new personal care items including mouthwash, toothpaste, lotion, body wash, shampoo and conditioner, and new/gently used clothing items including women’s and men’s sweatshirts, shirts and sweatpants in any size; new or gently used children's clothing in sizes 7/8, 10/12, and 14/16; new or gently used women's and boys' sneakers in all sizes; new or gently used women's slippers in sizes 6, 7, 8 and 9. Collection boxes are located in Reinhard Villages Community Center, Harvey Hall, Gemmell and Eagle Commons.

First-and second-year ASN students at Venango campus will have a Dirty Paws Grudge Match through April 12 to raise money and collect supplies for Venango County Humane Society. Teams earn points for each dollar raised or item donated. Items needed include: canned and bagged food and treats, litter, toys, collars, leashes, towels, blankets, copy paper, paper towels, garbage bags, hand soap refills, Dawn dish soap. Collection boxes are in Suhr Library. The winning class will be announced at the April 15 Dogs for Dogs picnic.
