About Me
Dr. Spencer grew up in Pittsburgh PA and is an avid Pittsburgh sports fan. Her professional career spans over 40 years beginning in retail management, working with dependent youth, and then moving into the criminal justice system working with both juveniles and adults as a probation/parole officer.
Since 2009 Dr. Spencer has taught as an adjunct professor at Westmoreland County Community College, Allegheny County Community College, and Point Park University. Her first full-time teaching position was at the University of Pittsburgh at Titusville. She has earned certificates in courses such as Diversity Across the Curriculum, Instructional Coaching, and most recently AI in Higher Education. Dr. Spencer has authored several journal articles and a text titled Juveniles in the 21st Century. With numerous accolades for securing grants, working with community organizations, and mentoring students, Dr. Spencer continues to contribute and be a committed member of the PennWest California faculty.
