About Me
Dr. Schaffner, a licensed psychologist and a Nationally Certified School Psychologist, earned her PhD in School Psychology from Duquesne University. Dr. Schaffner is an Assistant Professor at PennWest University where she teaches and provides supervision in the School Psychology program. She is certified by Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) International as a Regional Trainer and has provided extensive training in this evidence-based treatment to over 350 clinicians across the state and nationally. Clinically, Dr. Schaffner’s areas of focus include early childhood, disruptive behavior disorders, early childhood trauma, consultation/collaboration with early care/education, and community implementation of evidence-based interventions. Her current work emphasizes improving access for all families to the highest quality services, as well as home-school collaboration and utilizing skills based coaching in classroom and early care settings. Dr. Schaffer is also the mother of four young children. She is passionate about helping to create communities to support the diverse needs of children, families, and the professionals who support them.
