About Me
Dr. Raymond Hsieh is a professor at Pennsylvania Western University California, where he teaches in the Department of Criminal Justice. His journey in academia began with a Bachelor of Science in Forensic Science from Central Police University, Taiwan, followed by a Masters in Information Technology from the Rochester Institute of Technology, NY. Dr. Hsieh then earned his Ph.D. from the State University of New York at Buffalo, specializing in Information Communication Technology and Computer Mediated Communication at the School of Informatics.
Throughout his career, Dr. Hsieh has dedicated himself to the advancement of forensic science and digital forensics. His research has been pivotal in big data analysis, focusing on cognitive analysis and comparison through multidimensional scaling and perceptual mapping. Dr. Hsieh has also made significant contributions to the fields of cyber forensics and computer forensics, with a particular emphasis on digital multimedia evidence and forensic video analysis. Currently, Dr. Hsieh is involved in research on Artificial Intelligence and Deepfake technology in Forensic Science and Criminal Justice.
Dr. Hsieh is not only an academic researcher, having published several books and numerous scholarly essays and book chapters, but also a highly respected educator. His works, including "Cognitive Mapping & Comparison—an example of online legal policies" and "Intelligence and Security Informatics," are foundational texts in the field. He has also coauthored several chapters on digital evidence and computer forensics in forensic science textbooks with Dr. Henry Lee, a globally recognized forensic scientist.
As an editorial reviewer, Dr. Hsieh lends his expertise to a variety of peer-reviewed journals, enhancing the quality of publications in information science, digital forensics, and cyber security.
