About Me
Cass Reese is an Assistant Professor of Graphic Design at PennWest Edinboro University. She earned her MFA in Visual Communication Design from Kent State University (2017), an MA in Art Education (2011), and a BFA in Graphic Design (2006). Prior to her current role, Reese previously worked in advertising as the web designer at BENSUR Creative Marketing Group in Erie, PA. Her current coursework includes motion design, web design, and the capstone design practicum in the Beehive at EU—a professional design studio that collaborates with on-campus clients. At the Interactive Design Specialist at the NWPA Beehive, Reese mentors students in the vibrant campus design studio. Her independent design work features the branding for the Tethered Immersive Theatrical Experience and Highlands Honey. In addition, she designed the motion graphics for Mni Wiconi by Michael Genz, an internationally acclaimed film. An advocate for community engagement, she has volunteered as an art teacher at Bloom Collaborative art studio in Erie, PA, helping adults find healing and community through art. Reese also created the visual identity for the Crawford Profiles of Recovery, a virtual art installation aimed at fostering dialogue and understanding around the personal journeys of recovery. Her research interests focus on the intersection of mindfulness and design, specifically facilitating auto sensory meridian responses (ASMR) to enhance sensory experiences and promote mental well-being.
