About Me
Dr. Bryan Crable is an Assistant Professor of Microbiology in the Department of Biology, Earth, and Environmental Sciences at Pennsylvania Western University. Dr. Crable’s 20-year research career in environmental microbiology, bacterial physiology, microbial biotechnology, and science education spans eight institutions and three continents. Dr. Crable earned his PhD from the University of Oklahoma and, prior to joining PennWest, held appointments at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Air Force Research Laboratory, and the University of Scranton. Dr. Crable has received extramural research funding from the National Science Foundation, Department of Energy, and Lake Lacawac Foundation. Dr. Crable was a recipient of a 2010 Fulbright Award to the Netherlands. Outside of teaching and the lab, Bryan is an internationally recognized highland bagpiper and has won awards in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands. Dr. Crable currently serves as the interim director of the Pennsylvania Western University Pipe Band.
