About Me
Dr. Barry Sweet has been teaching on the Clarion campus since 1999. He holds a PhD and MA in Political Science from West Virginia University. He has a JD from The University of Pittsburgh School of Law and a BA in Economics from Washington and Jefferson College. Prior to coming to Clarion, he taught at Greensboro College in North Carolina. He also taught at West Virginia University while working on his PhD. Before going to graduate school, Dr. Sweet practiced law in Pittsburgh and clerked for a Washington County Court of Common Pleas judge. He is not currently practicing law, but maintains an active law license. Dr. Sweet has been a department chair, Faculty Senate chair, Clarion APSCUF vice president, and curriculum committee chair. Dr. Sweet has served on numerous boards and committees in the Clarion community, such as the Clarion County Literacy Council, the Clarion Borough Planning Commission, and two Clarion Borough pension committees.
