About Me
Ann Bergamasco, LSW is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Work, Sociology, and Human Services at Pennsylvania Western University. Ann is the Director of Field Education for the Social Work Program as well as the Field Coordinator for the BSW Program. In addition to chairing the Field Committee within the Social Work Program, she also serves on several social work and department committees including the Scholarship, DEI, Candidacy, Assessment, Curriculum, Accreditation, Evaluation and both the MSW and BSW Committees. Ann has been a member of the President’s Commission on the Status of Women since 2019 serving as co-chair from 2020 – 2023. During her time with the commission, she has taken a lead in planning the campus Take Your Child to Work Day activities. Additionally, Ann was a member of the HRSA (Health Resources and Services Administration) Grant committee where she worked with students to identify qualifying field placements so that they could receive stipends for working in rural and medically underserved communities. She also served on the National Social Work Rural Caucus planning committee that brought the annual national conference to Cal U (virtually) in 2020. Ann has presented at the NASW (National Association of Social Workers) PA conference and the National Social Work Rural Caucus. Previous to her academic career, Ann had over 16 years’ experience in community mental health holding several different positions including outpatient therapist, service coordinator and other supervisory roles.
