About Me

Aimee Yommer is a Nursing Instructor in the Department of Nursing and Health Professions in the Associate Science in Nursing program at Pennsylvania Western University – Clarion, Somerset.  Aimee began her health services career in United States Air Force where she served as a Medic.  After honorably completing her military service commitment, she attended Allegany College of Maryland – Somerset to complete her degree and graduated as a Registered Nurse in 2007.  She began employment at Somerset Hospital on the medical-surgical floor and quickly transitioned to the Intensive Care Unit.  She then completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Penn State University in 2010. Aimee remains employed in the ICU as Somerset Hospital has transitioned to UPMC Somerset in recent years.  She then continued her educational journey and completed her Master of Science in Nursing from Jacksonville University (2015).  She began her academic career at Pennsylvania Western University – Clarion, Somerset in 2021.  She is heavily involved in content creation and flow for the clinical education of the students.  Aimee maintains membership with the American Association of Critical Care Nurses.  She is highly involved in the field and volunteers in many positions including; Nurse Preceptor, UPMC Partners Program representative (certified), and UPMC Student Nurse Intern Program.  She holds certifications in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Basic Life Support, and National Institute of Health Stroke Scale.  Aimee is a team player and serves on the Code Blue, Rapid Response, and Stroke Alert response teams.  Her research interests include employee engagement and advanced critical care treatments.
