Andy Turner is a Professor of Biology, Earth, and Environmental Sciences at Pennsylvania Western University. He teaches courses in General Ecology, Freshwater Ecology, Fisheries, Biostatistics, and Environmental Law and Policy. Andy received a Ph.D. from Michigan State University and conducted post-doctoral research in the Florida Everglades before moving to Pennsylvania. His research program includes studies of fish and invertebrate diversity, trophic interactions, eutrophication, and remediation of acidified ecosystems. Andy’s lab has been conducting field research on northwestern Pennsylvania’s lakes and streams for 25 years, with funding from the National Science Foundation and other agencies. He has written and published 30 papers, mostly with PennWest student co-authors, and these papers have accumulated more than 3000 citations. Andy plays an active role in the local conservation community, serving in a leadership capacity for the Clarion County Conservation District, the Allegheny Valley Conservancy, the Pennsylvania Chapter of Backcountry Hunters and Anglers, and the Iron Furnace Chapter of Trout Unlimited.
